Is the end nigh? discusses the doomsday argument [via The Guardian weblog]; an argument which uses Bayesian statistics* to show the end of the world is nigh (I've read about this before and I thought it was in New Scientist, but I can't find the article there). Many more hours reading are provided in these doomsday argument resources. I'm not qualified to make sensible points about the argument, but it's a fun mental exercise, and it's reminded me that I meant to learn more about Bayes (I was a fan, for a while). D S Sivia's book, 'A Bayesian Tutorial', is an excellent primer, and I'll be visiting this Bayes resource again.
