Foreword

"This diary chronicles a return journey of 5603 km from Winchester, England, to the Ukrainian border of Czechoslovakia undertaken by motorcycle in May, 1990, in celebration of the reunification of Europe some 50 years after the commencement of its division.

It is dedicated to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Transcendental Meditation Programme, and Vaclav Havel, first President of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic."
