No-op (Week 22)
A no-op is an instruction given to a computer which does precisely nothing. It’s the machine code equivalent of “this page is intentionally left blank.”
On 18 April 1930,
the BBC’s news announcer had nothing to communicate. “There is no news,” was the script of the 20:45 news bulletin, before piano music was played for the rest of the 15-minute segment.
There’s nothing to report this week as I have been:
- Planning (how to efficiently attach location metadata to 1,000 jobs at a time? Do I need a product roadmap?)
- Doing Other Things (the thing about this being a side project is, periodically, there needs to be another thing unto which this can be on the side)
- Writing A Talk (I’m speaking in Copenhagen on Friday on Strategies for living in a post-truth world and maaaaybe I’ve bitten off more than I can chew)
