The second thing that happens, when you get rid of the rulebook, is that the past becomes absurd. You wonder why you ever did things in such a convoluted way before.

This is a game by some folks at ITP in New York called PacManhattan. There are many what they call “big games” now, and companies specifically to make them, but this was the first that popped to my attention.

You dress up as Pac Man, and have to run down all the streets in a neighbourhood. The ghosts are people dressed up too, and they run round and try to catch Pac Man. They all telephone in to find out where they’re supposed to run.

Okay, it’s a bit silly.
