Look.

Let me put my cards on the table and start trying to make some kind of sense of this free association of interconnectedness.

There's a bunch of people at this conference who will be talking about the Internet of Things. I don't like the term, but...

That Internet of Things thing, I can see it happening around me. Products, physical things, stuff, it is all getting networked and chatty and connected, and being made by individuals and small companies not the old incumbents, although them too, and it's changing really really really fast. We're in the middle of some generational shift. I've totally drunk the kool aid.

So here's what I reckon.

The network is the new electricity.

What we're seeing now, with connected products, is the 21st century equivalent of electrification.

Electrification.
