So I think the best way I can sum this up is with Thomas the Tank Engine. A website I read, Space and Culture, pointed this out the other day:
Thomas and his friend aspire to be “really useful engines.” Really useful! It’s an interesting ethic. My video recorder was attempting to be really useful.
Thomas seems to be missing the point a bit. He’s a train with a face! He’s a train with a face that can talk! I don’t think a talking train – a talking train with a face! – needs to be really useful.
Anyway. I’m going to do a bit of a show-and-tell of technology I like that understands that it has a face, and can talk, and is really useful too.
I don’t expert to impart any big new way of seeing the world, just a few things about the world that I like and I hope that you’ll want to investigate them further.
