The New York Times

Enclosed find all articles from the New York times from 11/17/89 till 11/21/89. If you're looking for a more day coverage and more information, check also out the copies I've got from the Philly Inquirer below. For each of the days, you can see its articles by clicking on links below. Please note that even the Times had made errors at several places (who hadn't at that time!) when reporting the events, but I've got no time to make all corrections so please take it As Is and consult other materials as well. This is just to show you how the revolution was being covered in the US - and it contains a lot of valid information anyway.

The downloads may take a couple of minutes because of the size of the copies, but I believe the waiting is worth the content... Also, of course that each issue describes the events from the day before it was printed.  And now to the pages:

Saturday 11/18

Sunday 11/19

Monday 11/20

Tuesday 11/21

The Philadelphia Inquirer

The most crucial first ten days are covered here. The downloads are even bigger than in the previous case as the Inquirer dedicated a whole page or more to Czechoslovakia at times, but these articles can really provide you with an excellent background of all the events. The coverage is complete and I'm sure I haven't missed anything. It's also a little bit more vivid -- and more sensational -- than in the case of the Times. It's also interesting to find out that the Inquirer paid much more attention to Dubcek than the Times.

I apologize for the low quality of the copies once more, but please remember I've scanned everything in a quite a painful process from microfiche films; so I guess that even this "quality" is okay. Also, those of you with small screen resolutions are going to have a hard time reading the stuff, the best solution for you would be probably to print everything, because the images are simply too big for standard screens.
