2003-06-29 D&G- Inadequacy of notes Taking notes seems so futile in the face of such a rich book. There are so many things I *want* to write down, but don't because the context is just too much. There are so many connections I'd like to make, but it seems stupid because the book is obviously and deliberately a hypertext. And the notes I *have* taken are just a tiny fraction of all the sudden thoughts I've had when reading. The notes I've taken aren't even the triggerquotes. What they are, I think, are useful ways in for me in the future. They're not the most important concepts because I hope those will have got inside me and will fix there, even though I won't be able to repeat them. And they're not the best ways to trigger ideas, even. As always when having ideas, it's impossible to write down them all and I just have to hope they'll come back one day (in a better shape). So these notes are just bits of D&G's ATP that I thought were nice ways of putting a concept: they're bookmarks not into the book but into everyday life, things that anchor the book to the way I already see the world. And even then, I'm missing most of them. It's all incredibly frustrating. Sorry!
