D&G- Artisans
p409
"""
Doubtless, the operation that consists in following can be carried out in one
place: an artisan who planes follows the wood, the fibers of the wood, without
changing location. But this way of following is only one particular sequence in
a more general process. For artisans are obliged to follow in another way as
well, in other words, to go find the wood where it lies
[...]
We will therefore define the artisan as one who is determined in such a way as
to follow a flow of matter, a machinic phylum. The artisan is the
itinerant, the ambulent.
"""
Artisans can follow a flow of matter, or the market say. But
transhumants draw circuits, like farmers who are seasonal and only
secondarily follow a land flow.
There are also nomads and migrants
I see artisans here as people who somehow steer the flow, discover a flow and
follow it to its source and to its end to improve it.
